~ 80th Annual Daniel Turknett Family Reunion 2025 ~
Benny Hutchinson on, 'What family means to me.'
I was raised with my grandparents and my mom and her siblings. Family was all that I had when I was young. I was the only child for 10years. So when my grandfather went somewhere I was going. He took me everywhere. To Honeys House, To see cousin Alvin. He always had cousin come over. I often went to your grandparents house.
The Turknett family was a close knit family unit. At that time he was over the Reunion and he took pride in making sure his family was taken care of at those reunions. From the BBQ to the activities to the programs and etc. I always thought in my mind if he does all this for family our family is a great thing.
So since then I’ve always loved our family. It was always a great honor to attend reunion because people always treated with such respect and kindness because of my grandfather. And I always treat people with kindness and respect because of how I was raised by all my family members.
I love the fact that I have all these family members and we all started out from my hometown of Chappell Hill, Tx
We had a new arrival to our family.

The Turknett family means the world to me! I feel God has blessed me to be part of this family. I hear about families that are torn apart and don't even speak to one another. If you knew my father Sherman McDonald, you know that he just loved this family and would do anything for them. Seeing how he treated and loved the Turknett, family he taught his kids to love the family. It makes me so proud to be part of this family that loves one another. We can get together and have a great time and enjoy one another. It's a blessing to me to be part of this great family.
I love each and every one of you.

It’s always important to know your family, roots and traditions. Especially in Black families where we can only trace our family roots so far.
